Healthworks Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of cardiovascular disease. It is the leading cause of death and disability in Australia having claimed 50 294 lives or 38% of all deaths in 2002. When the arteries supplying blood to the heart are hardened and narrowed, less blood can flow through, eventually depleting the heart's supply of oxygen. Potentially fatal consequences include heart failure, arrhythmias, angina, and heart attack. Around 3.67 million Australians are affected by CHD.

Healthworks Coronary Heart Disease educates readers as to the heart’s basic needs and functions, the gradual stages in development of CHD, possible symptoms of which one should be aware and the varieties of these signs, the characteristics of principal victims and options available in precenting and managing CHD.
