Healthworks Food For Healthy Living
The diversity of foods available to the average Australian has dramatically increased over four decades from 600 to 30,000 foods. While such abundance provides a wealth of good choices, we don’t necessarily consume the foods containing the best nutrients for a healthy body. Around seven million Australians are now overweight or obese, and childhood obesity is a growing issue. By 2020, studies predict that seventy-five percent of the Australian population will be overweight (www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au).
Healthworks Food for Healthy Living provides a guide on selecting a healthy diet. It details how to correctly read product labels and nutritional information; distinguishes between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fats; highlights the importance of fibre and carbohydrates; individually outlines the sources and attributes of many vitamins and minerals; and lastly provides healthy meal suggestions and delicious recipes.
Healthworks Food for Healthy Living is written by Dr Rosemary Stanton, who is an experienced dietitian, author, and academic, occasionally appearing on radio and television encouraging healthier diets and enjoyable foods.
